Behind the Design
Would you believe this started off as a font? Zapfino to be exact, many years ago. I believe it was the right arm and the leg that developed out of the ugly lowercase f. I don't know what I was attempting, other than a branding project that was going nowhere. Converting the font to outlines and reshaping it during long conference calls that could have been one line emails led to a flat black tendril-monster kind of shape. I saved the file and moved on. I wanted later to turn it into an octopus, but could never get the body right. So, I did what anyone would have done. Ignore the body and throw a broken pumpkin on it.
